John Is Born

Luke 1:5-20, 57-66

God's angel told Zechariah that his wife, Elizabeth, would have a baby.

The angel told Zechariah to name the baby John. Zechariah didn't believe the angel. So God wouldn't let him talk until the baby was born. When the baby came, the people asked Zechariah to name him. He wrote, "His name is John." Then Zechariah could talk again.

What was the baby's name?

Preschool Sunday School Idea

Bible Words: Love the Lord your God with all your heart.

Matthew 22:37

Bible Fun You might place an empty container on a table and act out a portion of the Bible story. Pretend that you are a Bible-time leader and call the people. "Come to the temple! Put your offering money in the offering box." Your child can put a coin in the container for the Sunday school offering each day and give as Joash and the people did.

Real Treasure

Lesson Focus: We can give to God.

One day Mrs. Lee's class could not go outside to play or hear the story. Carlos was sad. "No games?" he asked Mrs. Lee.

Mrs. Lee smiled and said, "How about an indoor treasure hunt? I'll whisper to each of you the name of something that is in the room.

Then you can go and get it."

First Mrs. Lee whispered to Sherri. Sherri got a chair. Then Mrs. Lee whispered to Brenda. Brenda got the Bible, Carlos liked this game. So Mrs. Lee whispered to Carlos, "Get the offering basket." Carlos brought the offering basket over to Mrs. Lee. Mrs. Lee said, "The money you bring helps buy chairs and Bibles and books. All these things help us know about the very best treasure, God's love!"

Family Fun Thank God for these cards that you enjoy together. Then help your child name other objects that church offerings help to buy.
