An angel from God told Mary she would have a baby boy. The baby would be God's only Son. The angel told Mary to name the baby Jesus. He said the baby would grow up to save people from their sins. Later, the baby was born in a stable in Bethlehem. His bed was a box where animals are fed.

Bible Fun Play the following game with your child to reinforce God's rules and to give a reason for some of life's many dos and don'ts. Draw a happy face on one side of a paper plate and a sad face on the other. Each time you name something God wants us to do, have your child show the happy face. If you name something God doesn't want us to do, have your child show the sad face.

Lesson Focus: God gives us rules.
Grandpa and Brenda were walking on the beach at the campground. Swish-swee, swish¬swee. The waves came close. Brenda liked to stand by the water and run away when the waves came.
"Better take your shoes off if you are going to get close to the water, Brenda," said Grandpa.
But Brenda was having so much fun that she wanted to keep playing, So she left her shoes on. Then a big, big wave came.
Splash! Brenda ran away from the big wave, but it splashed all over her shoes.
Squish, squeak. Brenda's shoes were all full of water. Grandpa helped her take them off, but they took a long time to dry.
"Next time I'll listen to Grandpa," said Brenda. That's what she did.
Family Fun Cut out a picture of a child following a rule, such as brushing teeth. Use the picture as a reminder. Explain that families can remind one another of God's rules too.
