God wants us to help other people. We should love each other. We should welcome people to our homes. And we should visit people who are in jail. We should show them we care about them.
How can you help others?
Preschool Sunday School Idea
Bible Words: Jesus went around doing good.
Acts 10:38
Bible Fun Help your child learn to pray when opportunities arise. Let your child repeat a prayer before a meal or talk to God at bedtime. Vary the postures used while praying—sifting at the table with head bowed, kneeling next to the bed, lying in bed with eyes closed, etc. This will help your child understand that praying is talking to God regardless of his posture. Make the prayers simple. At this point your child might only repeat your words, but you are laying the groundwork for future.
Michael the Helper
Lesson Focus: Jesus cares when we need help.
Michael heard a story in Sunday school about Jesus helping others. He wanted to be a helper too.
One day when Michael got to Mrs. Ferguson’s house, she said, “Our guinea pig, Sam, got away this morning. He’s sleeping under a couch!”
“Sam is sleepy, just like I was,” said Michael. “But I woke up when I smelled breakfast.”
Mrs. Ferguson said, “What a good idea! Sam likes lettuce for breakfast. I’ll get some right away.”
Michael held the lettuce under the sofa and Sam ran over to it. Mrs. Ferguson put him back in the cage.
“You were a good helper, Michael. You made Jesus happy by helping me,” said Mrs. Ferguson. “I think Sam is happy too.”
Family Fun This week let your child know you need his help – even with things like putting spoons on the table or throwing away trash. Praise your preschooler often for helping.
