Jacob and Rachel

Genesis 29-30

Jacob arrived at his mother's hometown and asked about his relatives. A man said, "That's your relative, Rachel." So Jacob introduced himself to her and went to meet her father, Laban. In time, Jacob asked to marry Rachel. Laban agreed, but first Jacob must work for seven years! Jacob loved Rachel, so he worked hard. But when the wedding day came, Laban tricked Jacob, giving his older daughter as Jacob's bride. "What have you done?" cried Jacob.

"The oldest daughter always marries first," said Laban, with a sly smile. And so Jacob worked seven more years until he could finally marry Rachel.
