In the Garden

Matthew 26

That night, Jesus took His disciples to a quiet garden called Gethsemane.

"Stay here and pray while I go over there," said Jesus to some of the disciples. Then He turned to Peter, James, and John, and said, "My heart is breaking with sadness. Stay here to watch and pray."

Jesus went on ahead of them. Falling with His face to the ground, He cried out to the Father. "If it is possible, please remove this task from Me. But don't do My will, Father; only let Your will be done."

When Jesus returned to His disciples, He found that they had all fallen asleep. And so, in His darkest hour, Jesus prayed alone. He cried out to His Father again and again.

Finally, He finished praying. He went back and woke up His disciples. "The time has come for the Son of Man to betrayed!" He said. " Look, here comes my betrayer now!"
