He Walks on Water! Matthew 14
After feeding the huge crowd, Jesus told His disciples to go ahead without Him. He needed time with His Father. So He went to the hills to pray. As the sun set, the disciples began to sail across the lake. But when it became dark, the wind began to stir the waves, tossing the small boat hack and forth. Then in the middle of the night, the disciples noticed something strange. A man walked toward them—right on top of the water! "It's a ghost!" they cried in terror. "Don't be afraid!" called Jesus. "It is I." Peter yelled, "If it's You, Lord, call me out to You!" Jesus called, and Peter climbed out of the boat. He too began to walk on the water. But when his eyes looked away from Jesus and down at the frothing sea, Peter began to sink. "Help me, Lord!" he cried. Jesus grabbed Peter's hand. "Peter, where's your faith?" asked Jesus as they climbed into the boat. But Peter and the other disciples could only bow down before Jesus. "You really are the Son of God!" they said.
