An Angel's Visit

Luke 1


One day, an angel appeared to a young woman named Mary. "God is happy with you," said the angel. "You have been chosen to have a baby boy! You will call him Jesus, and He will be great. He will be the Son of the Most High!"

Mary stared at the angel. "How can this be?" she asked.

"God will send His Holy Spirit to give you this baby," said the angel. "And God has done another miracle. After many years of waiting, God will give your relatives Elizabeth and Zechariah a son. See, nothing is impossible with God."

Mary bowed. "I am God's humble servant. I will do all that you have said."

Then the angel left.



Singing God's Praise


Luke 1 contains two of the many songs in the Bible. An angel came to Zechariah and told him that he would have a son, but Zechariah did not believe it. So the angel told him that he would not be able to born. Zechariah finally rejoiced publicly when he was once again able to talk.

Meanwhile, the same angel appeared to a young woman named Mary and told her that she would give birth to the promised Savior. Mary was confused, but she believed the angel. Soon Mary was also singing God's praise.
