Many days later, the disciples gathered in one place. Suddenly a sound like a loud, roaring wind whipped through the room and shook the entire house! The disciples stared in wonder as a small flame of fire came to rest on each one of them. And in that same moment, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit—the one that Jesus had promised. The power they received from the Holy Spirit made them able to speak in languages they had never known before.

The disciples poured out into the streets, speaking their new languages. Jerusalem was filled with visitors from all over the world. And when they heard the disciples talking about God in their own languages, they were completely amazed.

Peter spoke to the huge crowd, telling how the ancient Jewish prophets had known that God would send Jesus to forgive their sins. Then Peter told about how Jesus had died and come back to life, and how they too could be saved.

And 3,000 people listened to this message and were baptized that very day!
