After King Solomon died, many kings ruled Israel, one after the
other. Some were good, some were bad. King Ahab was very bad. He
turned his back on God.
During King Ahab's time, there was a man called Elijah who
listened to God and spoke for God. He was a prophet.
One day, Elijah told King Ahab, "God has shown me there will be no
rain for the next few years unless I say so." Then Elijah went off
to hide in a place that God showed to him. Each day, God sent
ravens to carry meat and bread for Elijah to eat. The birds came
in the morning and the evening. And Elijah drank water from the
stream.
