A Frightening Storm

Luke 8

One day Jesus said to His disciples, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake."

So they all climbed into a boat and began to sail across the water. Jesus settled down in a quiet corner of the boat and soon fell fast

asleep. But while He was sleeping a huge and horrible storm began to rage!

High, angry waves smashed with fury into the boat, and the wind howled and screamed! The boat was tossed back and forth with each new wave. It took on more and more sea water until it was almost sinking. The disciples knew they were in danger and feared for their lives. But all the while, Jesus slept peacefully as if nothing whatsoever was wrong.

"Master!" the disciples cried out in despair. "Help us! We are all surely going to drown!"

Jesus got up from His nap, and told the raging wind and the fierce waves to be still. Immediately the wind became quiet and the waves grew calm.

"What has happened to your faith?" Jesus asked His disciples. But they were so surprised when the storm stopped that they couldn't even answer Him.

Later they whispered to each other in amazement,"Who can this man possibly be? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!"
