After three years, God told Elijah to speak to the
wicked king. "Ahab," said Elijah, "you've turned from God, and you serve the false god Baal. Now let's see whose God is real!"
So Ahab's false prophets made an altar with wood piled high. "Can your gods make your wood burn?" asked Elijah. Ahab's false prophets danced and shouted, but their altar did not burn. "
Perhaps your gods are asleep," said Elijah. "Or maybe they've taken a trip." Then Elijah made an altar for God. He piled it high with wood, and poured gallons of water on it! Elijah prayed, and the altar burst into fiery flames!
